Lagos A Heart of Attractions with Modern Development


LAGOS PLACES TO VISIT

Lagos has maintained its reputation as one of the most desirable tourist destination. It is the largest city of Nigeria. This town is notable for its scenic coastline of beautiful beaches and amazing natural rock formation, nightlife and boutiques. This city has a lot in its history and now the modern developments make it even more glorious. Many places are attraction for tourist some of them are:

BEACHES:

If we say Lagos a town of beaches, then it would not be wrong. The two of its beaches including Praia de Dona Ana and Meia Praia are at walking distance from southwest of the town center. The shadow of sun in the afternoon at the beach is just simply adorable.

PONTA da PIEDADE:

Ponta da Piedade light house is a pathway which will take pedestrians to the lovely beach. It is the most famous natural landmark in Portugal. The huge rocks standing in the water are simply adorable. These hidden caverns can be explored by boat.

IGREJA DE SANTO ANTONIO/MUSEU MUNICIPAL:

It is one of the most inspiring culture combinations of these two places including Igreja de Santo Antonio and Museu Municipal. These two places together represent a great sight-seeing in the region. Firstly the visitors enter into the museum where they can see exhibition of photos of the Roman time. The tourists can spend an hour or more to observe this fascinating exhibition.

FORTE PONTA DA BANDEIRA:

The fort was built back in 17th century as a defending approach to Lagos Harbor. This pocket sized square shaped fort is still in good condition according to its age. The visitors approach is limited to a small 18th century chapel lined with pretty azulegos tiles and the exhibition of discoveries in Portugal’s era.

MERCADO DOS ESCRAVOS:

The slave market in Lagos is rather a darker side of Portugal history besides of its golden age of discovery. The building was built back in 1691 and was used as a custom office. But now this place is served as a small gallery having exhibitions charting Portugal’s shameful trade in human cargo and the roll of Lagos in its proliferation.

CENTRO CIENCIA VIVA DE LAGOS:

Live science exhibition and cultural center is a fun filled way to preach children about past and keep them cheerful and entertained. This will be much better if the weather is also in your favor. The interesting thing is that on the top floor of Lagos market, there is a light house where kids can have fun and learning of usage of semaphore flags to send signal.

MARINA DE LAGOS:

This place is an exciting destination for water lovers. Marina offers you all size and shaped motorboats and yatches, so you can tie up with this first class mooring facility. Along the border walks very good eateries make your time more pleasant. At night some cafes host live music and performance to entertain their guests.

PARQUE ZOOLOGICO DE LAGOS:

Lagos zoo is definitely another attraction for nature and animal lovers. When you are there rubber limbed gibbons, fur ball marmoset, marble eyed lemurs are some animals waiting for greeting you. The variety of birdlife is showcase in zoo. In addition the countryside shows their farm animals and Monkey Lake is picnic area for visitors.
